Actively assisting local Veterans with medical and other needs.
Our Goals: Keeping McKellar safe. We are there for you when you need us.
We are a group of highly trained and dedicated individuals that work as a team to provide emergency response to a variety of needs...medical, fire, MVCs, wildfires, water and ice water rescues. We also assist with the McKellar Market, a Home-Safe-Home program for fire and CO alarm inspections and installations, participating in Community events.
Winner of the Fan's Choice award at the 2023 Ribfest as chosen by you, the ones that really count. We are normally there to put out your fires but for Ribfest, we add the heat to the party.

MLCA
Originally established as a Lake Community Association for Lake Manitouwabing, the Association is now dedicated to all preservation of all the waterways of McKellar.
Since 1982, incorporated in 1994, the MLCA has always been a group of volunteered, community leaders who are committed to public outreach, local news, team spirit and environmental stewardship. Members benefit from Newsletters, Email Blasts, the Annual Native Tree & Seed Sale, Seminars, downloadable info guides and Summer Socials.
MLCA collaborates with other organizations in the community to bring you Ribfest, to assist with charitable endeavours, and to celebrate the culture of the Township and Parry Sound region
MLCA helps members with group rates for Propane and arranges other discounts for things such as Septic Maintenance
MLCA partners with the Township to test Water Quality, lake health and promotes naturalized waterfronts for all of the lakes of McKellar - property visits can be arrange in order to provide landscaping advice
MLCA outsources helpful information from the Georgian Bay Biosphere, Watersheds Canada, Federation of Cottage Associations, Hinterland Who’s Who Wildlife and seeks out useful information regarding water safety
MLCA connects you to your neighbours, local Agriculture, local Artists and profiles outstanding People in the Community

Team’s Mascot is “wRECk” (as in Wreck it Ralph) and our BBQ is affectionately called “the wRECker”
Team Name and approach is “wRECked ribs” brought corRECted, RECtified, RECkoned with diRECtly to your plate by REC (Really Energetic Crew)
Provides the community (all ages) with recreational activities and special events throughout the year
Several activity programs and special annual events have been successfully running for a number of years:
Summer swimming program
Fish ‘n’ Fun - as many as 80 children attended this summer event
Annual David vs Goliath Tug of War Challenge - this famouse event between the kids and Firefighters has been won by the kids six out of six times
Dances
Special Events like the Murder Mystery Dinner theatre are also provided by the Rec (wRECk) Committee
Sports and Exercise: Pickleball, Yoga, Tai Chi, Badminton, Youth Baseball and Basketball, Arm wrestling
Dun-Ahmic Snowriders - 2024 Competitor
The Dun-Ahmic Snowriders are a group of local volunteers that actively manage the snowmobile trails around McKellar from Lake Manitouwabing in the south, north to the Whitestone Lake area, east to Ahmic Harbour and south to the Seguin Falls area.
Our not for profit club works all year round to ensure everyone can enjoy riding our trails in the winter months.
We are active at community events like ribfest and we can be found at the McKellar Market all summer long selling our 50/50 raffle tickets in an effort to raise money to fund a lot of our trail operations.

Waubuno Shrine Club - 2024 Competitor
Shriners Clubs fund 22 Shriners Hospitals for Children including the hospital in Montreal.
Shriners Hospitals, care disciplines are pediatric orthopaedics, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate - All care and services are provided regardless of the families ability to pay.
Being a Shriner means ”HAVING FUN“ while, raising funds to support our Hospitals.
Local annual events include: the Shrine Lottery, the Vidalia Onions sale, and the Christmas Cake sale. The Club also hosts a Memorial Golf Tournament (which also raises funds for The West Parry Sound Health Centre) and a stag Wild Game Dinner between Christmas and New Years The Club can also be seen supporting The Parry Sound Santa Claus Parade, and events such as this AMAZING McKellar Ribfest.

McKellar-Dunchurch Pastoral Charge - 2024 Judge: Charles & Ratna
The McKellar United Church which has been in continuous service for over 153 years is operated as part of the McKellar-Dunchurch Pastoral Charge. The Knox United Church in Dunchurch is also included in this Pastoral Charge. They are dedicated to helping with the Pastoral and Spiritual needs of the community.
Pastoral visits can be arranged for anyone in the community experiencing difficulties. Their Outreach Ministries regularly support Harvest Share, Food Drives and Christmas gifts for the Salvation Army and the Lion's Club, Local Families in need, and local Community Events.

Hurdville Community Club - 2024 Judge: Denny Hare
The Hurdville Community Club is housed in the former S.S. #2 McDougall and McKellar School which was built in 1898. We are a Not For Profit organization which relies on donations and volunteers and our focus is to maintain and operate our many community programs from this facility.
Donations over the years have allowed our volunteers to construct a new volunteer built Foyer, install a new Heating system, refurbish our floors, repaint the entire interior of the building and we’re not done yet!
Our current fundraising drive is focused on drilling a well and installing a septic system. This will allow us to operate more efficiently and throughout the winter.
We welcome members and volunteers from all points of our community and we are known as the “Home of the Pancake Breakfast”
We host many community events throughout the year - Friday Night Euchre, Giant Yard Sales, Bottle Drives, Music Nights, Outdoor Music Concerts, Seasonal Dinners, and various other activities

The Magnetawan Watershed Land Trust (MWLT) is a nonprofit conservation organization that began in 2009.
MWLT's mission is "To increase the number of natural and ecologically-significant spaces protected in perpetuity along the Magnetawan River Watershed".
The Magnetawan River originates on the western slopes of Algonquin Provincial Park. From there, it flows approximately 200 kilometers, winding through numerous lakes, tributaries, and waterfalls before reaching Georgian Bay.
MWLT is committed to conserving land in perpetuity for the benefit of present and future generations
MWLT is conserving and managing 711 acres (288 hectares) of land on 13,351 feet (4,609 metres) of shoreline. In addition, the Land Trust has 195 acres (79 hectare) of bequeathed land under future protection.
In 2014 the Ardeleana Chamber Music Society started the Whispering River Music in Parry Sound, to kindle the spirit of creative musical community in this area
The organization has supported Canadian music for over 35 years by providing educational arts programs and concerts for children, youth and adults, and commissioning and recording Canadian composers. . serves the whole community regardless of a person’s skill-level, financial availability, or experience.
W.R.M. believes that music fosters life-long learning, true friendships, real communities, and good mental health. Through local partnership and support, Whispering River Music continues to flourish, do things differently, and maintains a commitment not just to excellence, but to kindness, accessibility, and fun.
