Tournament Goal

McKellar Fire is proud to share that proceeds from this year’s community hockey tournament will be dedicated to supporting emergency preparedness initiatives within our community.  Specifically, funds raised will go toward assembling 72-hour emergency power outage preparedness kits.

Seniors Emergency Preparedness Day
McKellar Fire, in partnership with the McKellar library, will host a Seniors Emergency Preparedness Day in October. The event will focus on educating and supporting at-risk seniors, who can be especially vulnerable during extended power outages and severe weather events. Attendees will receive preparedness information, practical safety guidance, and a 72-hour emergency kit to help them remain safe and self-sufficient during emergencies.

These kits may include, but are not limited to, emergency food and water rations, emergency blankets, hand and foot warmers, wind-up flashlights, extra batteries, toilet paper, hand sanitizer, whistles, and backup battery packs for cell phones.

This initiative reflects Mckellar Fire’s ongoing commitment to protecting our most vulnerable residents while promoting preparedness and resilience across the community. We sincerely thank everyone who participates in and supports the tournament—your contribution is helping make a meaningful difference.
