Labour Day Weekend Loon Sightings
by Patty Duffey
Greetings Loon Lovers! Here are the reported sightings marked in blue from the Labour Day long weekend. Although we haven't seen any loon chicks this summer it's still good to know how many resident loons we have on the lake. The number of loons residing here reflect the health of our lakes. As well, these sightings are beneficial for the ongoing work that Birds Canada and their Canadian Lakes Loon Survey crew do.
Thank you to all who took the time to pass along their observations! And thank you for not using lead weights if you're fishing as this is the leading cause of Loon deaths. Hopefully, the Loons of Manitouwabing (and all of Canada for that matter) will have more success producing chicks in the coming years.
