Timothy is a research scientist, project manager, and communicator with a 25-year career encompassing a range of fields in environmental science and conservation. While his research career is based at Queen’s University, he is also employed at the University of Iceland as the comms lead for a large Horizon Europe research project. He has acted as a consultant and volunteer science advisor for both WWF-Canada and WWF Arctic Programme as well as running his own editing business.

Timothy’s grandparents came to Ontario’s cottage country as new cottagers in 1950, and his extended family can still be found at the family compound in Haliburton every summer.  Now a full time-resident, Timothy is an enthusiastic advocate for the health and sustainable enjoyment of our beautiful lakes, a cause he also supports as a board member of both Safe Quiet Lakes and the Coalition of Haliburton Property Owners' Associations.

The Market is thrilled to have the Mary Street Centre and Parry Sound Harvest Share join together in 1 booth to bring us some delicious food under the guidance of James McMurdo this summer. You will find them to the left of the gazebo from the parking lot.

Proceeds from sales will go towards providing hot meals, which are served 3 times a week to over 100 patrons each day, through both of these wonderful organizations. Please also consider bringing non-perishable food items to be dropped off to their donation bin.

Welcome to the market this year!

As we head into the busy season, we ask all residents and visitors to be considerate of those around them. Some of the most common neighbourhood concerns we receive involve excessive noise and dogs running at large.

A little courtesy goes a long way:

              • Keep noise levels reasonable at all hours of the day and night
              • Keep dogs leashed in all public spaces and under proper control
              • Clean up after pets

Whenever possible, we encourage neighbours to respectfully resolve concerns directly with one another first. In many cases, a simple conversation can prevent misunderstandings and quickly resolve issues.

If concerns cannot be resolved, Bylaw Services may be contacted for assistance with municipal bylaw matters.

              Please note:

              • Concerns involving dogs running at large or aggressive dogs must be directed to the OPP
              • Criminal matters, including trespassing concerns - handled by the OPP
              • Any life or safety threatening emergencies -  contact 911

We are fortunate to live in an area known for its natural beauty and strong sense of community. Let’s all do our part to help ensure everyone can safely and peacefully enjoy everything our community has to offer.
