June is Indigenous Peoples History Month!

The Georgian Bay Mnidoo Gamii Biosphere is situated in the traditional territory of many nations including Ojibway, Chippewa, Odawa, and Pottawatomi.

Pow Wows celebrate Indigenous culture and connect communities. Many of the nations around Georgian Bay host Pow Wows where the public is welcome. We are grateful to the knowledge keepers, Elders, community members, and youth who share their knowledge and are caretakers of the air, land, and water.

MLCA Mingles at the Ridgehouse Grill

57 members had a lovely afternoon Mingling at the Ridgehouse Grill last Saturday. A big thanks goes out to the staff at the Ridge for helping us host this event. The silent auction purchase of Guy St. Julien's Moose in the Moonlight painting by Morley Haskim along with donations from our members helped the Firefighter's Association raise $500 for their Senior's 72 Hour Emergency Kits.

Our special guests of honour were the Executive of the Broadbent Snowbugs - Andrew Mullins, Lindsay Horne, Cathy Tiffany, Jenny Haskim, (Anna Michieli our Treasurer, Steve Macdonell our President) and Morley Haskim. We presented them with a donation of $400 for the June 27 BBQ and Fireworks they are organizing along with the McKellar Recreation Committee.
