The simple answer is that instead of buying a new bottle every time you run out of everyday items such as dish soap, laundry detergent, shampoo, or a household cleaner, you bring your container back and simply refill it.
But if we are being honest, our refillery was never only about reusing bottles. It was also about having natural, everyday items accessible in our community.
When we opened Georgian Bay Refillery, we wanted to create a space where people could make small, practical changes to natural products that are good for both their families and the environment. No pressure. Not perfection. Just one refill, one swap, one conversation at a time. We are surrounded by so much natural beauty - the lakes, forests, rocky shorelines, and wildlife are part of why many of us choose to call this area home and what we flush, put down the drain; what the container is made from and where it actually ends up really does matter - we all know it eventually ends up in our soil and water tables. The simplicity of replacing everyday items with something natural, one at a time and reusing a bottle instead of replacing it, really can make a significant impact collectively.
What we love most is the community that has grown around the shop. Sure, we share jars, exchange ideas, discover local, natural makers, and support one another in making thoughtful choices, but it’s also a story of something beautifully made or reused. At the end of the day, a refillery is about more than what you buy. It’s about being mindful of what we bring into our homes, what we leave behind, and how our everyday choices shape the place we live. We are grateful to everyone who has brought in a bottle, tried a new product, shared a tip, or simply stopped in to learn more. Together, those small actions add up, helping us care for both our families and the beautiful Georgian Bay community we call home.
So, if you’re curious about how to get started, we'd love to welcome you into the shop to ask questions, explore something new, and discover how simple sustainable living can be. One refill may seem small, but together, those small choices create meaningful change for our community and the environment we all share.
